I’m totally obsessed with bicycles right now, I actually just bought a vintage 1969 Raleigh 3 speed cruiser this very day (yippee!!). Bicycle people have probably heard of this man before while researching bicycle stuff on the internets, Sheldon Brown. He is an American with a plethora of bicycle knowledge. Besides being a bicycle expert, he is quite a quirky, eccentric man with what looks like an eccentric family.
Check out his miscellaneous personal pages about random things (like Hats). He’s cool.
I’m determined to bike to work and stop using my car. I already have a MTB but I want a classier, chic looking ride to match my outfit. (it sounds corny I know but I wanna look nice going to work!).
Running 10k in 2 weeks! I wish this rainy weather would clear up so I can train! (I’m obviously a fairweather runner). I’ve been running 5k (borderline) comfortably, ran 6k with relative ease few days ago. Plan to run 7k with the running clinic tomorrow morning. Yea.
Along with running… more yoga, more workouts!
Summer is just around the corner ;)
This is the most active I’ve been in my life!! haha. I’ve been blessed with a slender figure but with age come slower metabolism, and that means a little more weight around the middle part of my body :p
Saw this and thought: ”wow. that’s me…” O_o
Thai flavoured butternut squash soup
My friend Jenn gave me this delectable Jamie Oliver recipe, and now I understand her excitement over this soup! Made it tonight, it was sooo delicious I just had to post this now. Of course I made some adjustments (aka simplified the recipe), but the original recipe can be found here.
butternut squash
garlic
onion
lemongrass paste in a tube
cilantro
ginger
olive oil
cumin
basmati rice
vegetable stock
mushrooms
coconut milk (i reduced it by half and only used 400mL which was plenty)
lime juice
salt & pepper
Cabbage rolls
savoy cabbage
onion
carrot
parsnip (or another carrot)
celery
garlic
mushrooms
Yves veggie breakfast patties (optional)
tomato paste
basmati rice
tomato sauce/juice
salt & pepper
tonight my friends and i dined at a hip little taqueria on commercial drive. we had no idea it was a vegetarian restaurant but i was happily surprised by it and my omni friends were intrigued as well. i had the ronny russel tacos and opted for veganizing the sour cream. also opted to have horchata with soymilk.
it’s crazy how much i’ve changed in 4 months but the change has been great and for the better. well i guess not completely changed since i had a decadently dairy-rich chocolate cake from whole foods for dessert :p baby steps i say. gotta enjoy life and live a little! haha.
one thing that peeves me a bit is how omnis like to point out what i can have and cannot. either they mean well or are just saying that out of spite because i take care in what i eat. i can eat anything i want to, if i want to. i choose not to because i don’t want to. so if i have a bit of cake laden with butter and eggs once in a while, it’s all good people, chill out!
